On 1st May 2021, the European Union announced several changes in the existing tyre labelling rules. If you are looking for new tyres Birmingham, you must have thorough knowledge about these rules to make an informed decision.
At our garage Flaxley Tyres, we not only retail tyres with updated EU labels but also help car owners get a detailed understanding of the new tyre labels so that they can find the best-tyre products for their model.
We have explained the latest EU tyre labels in detail in the section below. Take a look!
New Tyre Labelling Rules
In the new EU tyre labels, the wet grip rating of car tyres will range from A to E. Tyres with rating "A" will offer brilliant grip and braking performance on wet roads. Alternatively, tyres with an "E" rating will provide the least effective wet-grip and control.
Fuel efficiency ratings will now range from A to E. The tyres with “A” fuel efficiency rating will effectively reduce rolling resistance and provide brilliant mileage. The tyres with “E” fuel efficiency ratings will offer poor fuel economy.
An ABC rating will be used to measure the noise efficiency of car tyres. The tyres with "A" ratings will indicate excellent noise efficiency, tyres with "B" ratings will emit high external noise, and the tyres with "C" ratings are no longer permitted in the UK.
There are some other new EU tyre labelling rules that you must keep in mind while buying tyres Birmingham. This includes-
- Nordic winter tyres will now have a stalagmite symbol on their EU labels
- Tyres designed for snow performance will now have a 3PMSF symbol.
- All tyre labels will come with a unique QR code. When scanned, the QR code will offer detailed information and verification of the tyre product by directly linking to the EU database EPREL.
